What's on my photo editing playlist?

March 12, 2018

****

Editing can be a long process. From cutting down your final batch of images to making changes here and there in order to improve the photograph; it can be tedious at times. For many it is part of the craft, and whilst I do enjoy it, I do need something to accompany it so I do not verge on wanting to tear my hair out. So, what is my perfect editing companion?

Music.

I love nothing more than going home after getting a new batch of content, loading up Lightroom and putting some quality tunes on to keep me going. Below are my top 5 tracks I listen to whilst editing photographs.

1. Eminem feat Beyonce - Walk On Water

Taken from his latest album, Revival, Walk On Water offers an alternative to traditional Hip-Hop. The album itself has been heavily criticised, and is sadly becoming recognised as one of the worst albums put out by the controversial rap star. However, the record covers Eminem's own insecurities and is beautifully put together over a piano riff. Beyonce adds to the diversity of the track, and it is a perfect combination for me to get in the mood and concentrated.

2.Orbital - One Perfect Sunrise (Phil Hartnoll Remix)

This has been on of my favourite records for the past 14 years. A truly euphoric, smoothing vocal that is layered over a chilled, yet flowing, break beat percussion. I tend to play this track 3 or 4 times in a row as it really does help with getting focused, which is vital when editing those finer details on your image.

3. The National - Terrible Love

Recently added to my playlist, and 7 years off the pace, this record has found its way to the forefront of my ear drums. The development through this record just keeps on offering elements for your brain to hold on to. It's a journey and a splendid one at that.

4. The Lighthouse Family - Ocean Drive

Simply put, my most nostalgic record off all time. It is the first record I really remember falling in love with. The kind of track you could play all day and still not get bored of. It has become a little dated with time, but for me it is still a classic and one that is always on my playlists.

5.  Haim - Days are gone (Album)

3 sisters from America make up the band Haim. Equipt with beautiful voices, delivered over an acoustic vibe with a strong kick drum, the band provide a sound that effortlessly gets you centered and pushes a head bopping energy - perfect for when you are making your images come to life!
